Every kitchen sink needs a drain. Some sinks on our site already include matching drains as part of the package, however if you need to buy a drain or two for your sink then this is the right page to visit. Kitchen sink drains are almost always 3.5 inches in diameter, many bar and prep sinks use this size as well. Kitchen sink drains are available in two main styles, the first being a basket strainer and the second being a disposal flange. A basket strainer is connected directly to the plumbing underneath the sink and is populated with holes to allow water and small food debris to fall into the drain but it will trap large items in the removable strainer. A basket strainer can be opened or closed to allow the sink water to drain or fill. A disposal flange on the other hand, although it looks similar to a basket strainer is used in conjunction with a garbage disposal. The disposal flange has a large hole that allows you to pass food and other debris through the drain and into the disposal underneath your sink. Disposal flanges also usually come with a flange cover, which allows you to cover the hole while not in use.
